When it comes to Bridgestone Turanza T005 and Yokohama Bluearth AE-50, both tyres are summer tyres but come with completely different performances according to our tests.
The Yokohama Bluearth AE-50 proved to have significantly good dry steering response and comfort but ranked only 6th and 22nd in Autozeitung and Autobild tests respectively. The tyre shows some strengths when driving under dry conditions, especially its quick steering response. Additionally, it offers a comfortable ride, making it a good option for drivers seeking a smooth driving experience. However, its overall ranking in the tests was slightly disappointing, as it did not perform quite as well compared to other tyres in these tests.
In contrast, the Bridgestone Turanza T005, a tyre made across multiple countries including Hungary, Poland, France and Italy, shows significantly high performance, ranking 5th in the Autozeitung test and an impressive 2nd place out of 51 in the Autobild test. Furthermore, it demonstrates excellent features in wet conditions, including superb wet circle cornering and remarkable resistance to aquaplaning. Wet handling came out to be one of its top features, which is a crucial factor for summer tyres. This Bridgestone tyre is categorized under the "touring" subtype, suggesting it provides a reliable and comfortable driving experience.
The Bridgestone Turanza T005 has been replaced by the Bridgestone Turanza 6, marking the end of its production. However, given its overall high performance in tests, it remains a great option to consider for a summer tyre.
In conclusion, while the Yokohama Bluearth AE-50 offers good dry steering response and comfortable ride, it falls short in overall performance compared to the Bridgestone Turanza T005, which excels in wet handling and resistance to aquaplaning. From our tests, the Bridgestone model is the stronger contender for a summer tyre choice.
