Examining two all-around type tyres, the Maxxis Premitra AS AP3 and the Nokian Seasonproof, we learn about their performance, strengths, and weaknesses according to tests from Autobild and autobild 2022.
The Maxxis Premitra AS AP3, manufactured in CN, finds its strengths in wet circle cornering and exterior noise, and is lauded for its excellent aquaplaning qualities and affordable price. Regardless, it has shortcomings such as delayed steering response and understeering driving behaviour in all weather conditions, in addition to a limited lifespan and economy. Our rating for this tyre is 63%.
In comparison, the Nokian Seasonproof is produced in RU and comes with a favourable rating of 69%. Best performance was noted in the areas of exterior noise and snow handling, including braking and traction. The test data praised it for convincing driving properties on ice and snow, good aquaplaning qualities, stable dry handling, and low pass-by noise. However, it fell short with longer braking distances on wet and dry road surfaces.
While in the Autobild test, the Maxxis was position 7 out of 32, better than the Nokian which was position 9, looking at the overall data from both tests, the Nokian Seasonproof marginally outperforms the Maxxis Premitra AS AP3 in our ratings.

These tyres haven't been replaced by newer models yet, thus their performance indicators remain relevant. Deciding which tyre to opt for will depend on individual requirements and driving conditions. If noise level and wet circle handling are paramount to you, the Maxxis might be your tyre. But if you drive often in snowy conditions and prioritize capable handling on ice, the Nokian could be a better choice.
