Let's compare two summer tyres: the GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 and the Toyo Proxes T1 Sport. The GoodYear tyre rates highly in our tests, achieving an overall performance score of 90%. On the other hand, the Toyo Proxes T1 Sport has a rather low rating, fetching just 37% in our review.

The GoodYear is produced in Slovenia and Germany, while the Toyo model originates from Japan. The GoodYear tyre is a successor to the popular Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 and has been replaced recently by the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6. The Toyo offering, available here, does not have a predecessor or successor model.

In the AutoMotorSport tyre test, the GoodYear model was a clear winner, showing top performance in aquaplaning (both cross and longitudinal), dry braking, dry steering response, exterior noise and wet braking. In contrast, the Toyo tyre managed to perform well in dry steering response, but couldn't surpass its competitor, ending up the 10th out of 11 tyres tested.

The GoodYear also showcased its prowess in the Autobild test. Apart from its excellent rating on price/value, wet handling, and aquaplaning, it was also found to offer a better mileage. The Toyo tyre failed to step up in this test as well, securing the 19th position out of 53, and only performing better in the exterior noise category.

In the ADAC test, the GoodYear managed to grab the 3rd position out of 16 tyres, mostly due to its impressive mileage. Unfortunately, the Toyo tyre remained at the lower end of the test, securing the unlucky 13th position.

In conclusion, the GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 seems to provide a much better experience in most areas compared to the Toyo Proxes T1 Sport. From aquaplaning, dry and wet braking to noise level and mileage, the GoodYear tyre clearly outperforms the Toyo. Therefore, unless exterior noise is your only concern, the GoodYear seems like the better choice.
