When comparing the Firestone Firehawk Sport and the Vredestein Ultrac Pro, both summer tyres, there were distinct differences in their performance and features. The Firehawk Sport, manufactured in Italy by Firestone, earned a 76% rating from our tests. Meanwhile, the Ultrac Pro, made in the Netherlands and Hungary by Vredestein, achieved a slightly lower rating of 71% in our reviews.
Firestone Firehawk Sport performed well overall in the Autobild tests, landing in the 15th position out of 52 tyres tested. Its best feature shown was its low rolling resistance, offering excellent fuel efficiency. The tyre was also praised for its good performance in both dry and wet driving conditions. However, it has received criticism for showing slight weaknesses in aquaplaning and higher wear.
On the other hand, the Vredestein Ultrac Pro secured the 18th position in the same Autobild test. Its best features were its longitudinal aquaplaning performance and comfort. This tyre showed similar good properties on both dry and wet roads to the Firehawk Sport, with an even lower wear. However, its predicted mileage was just satisfactory, and it was noted for its heavier weight.
In the ADAC tests, Vredestein Ultrac Pro outperformed Firestone Firehawk Sport, securing 5th place out of 18, while the latter took the 7th spot.
Summing up, both tyres have their strengths and weaknesses. The Firestone Firehawk Sport exceeded with low rolling resistance and fuel efficiency but fell short in aquaplaning performance. In contrast, the Vredestein Ultrac Pro excels in combating aquaplaning and providing a comfortable drive, but its projected mileage and heavier weight might be seen as downsides. However, in mutual tests, Vredestein Ultrac Pro generally ranked higher, so it may be the better option for those looking for overall performance.
