The Bridgestone Potenza Sport and the Toyo Proxes Sport A are both summer tyres that have shown unique strengths and weaknesses in our tests. Both are manufactured by leading entities in the tyre industry, namely: Bridgestone and Toyo.

Bridgestone Potenza Sport

The Bridgestone Potenza Sport, produced in Poland and Hungary, has an impressive overall rating of 89%. Based on our classifications, this is an Ultra Ultra High Performace (UUHP) summer tyre. It has demonstrated a superior performance in areas like wet and dry braking, wet cornering, dry handling, and interior noise reduction. It also showed great test results, placing 2nd in the Autobild test featuring 8 different tyres.

However, the Bridgestone Potenza Sport also had some drawbacks such as higher rolling resistance and an increased interior noise. This has led to a few minor inconveniences like lower comfort and efficiency levels. Yet, its formidable performance in other areas more than compensates for these weaknesses.

Toyo Proxes Sport A

On the other hand, the Toyo Proxes Sport A scored considerably lower on our rating, with a score of 42%. This summer tyre displayed good characteristics in areas like cross and longitudinal aquaplaning and dry braking.

Despite displaying strong aquaplaning safety features, the Toyo Proxes Sport A fell short in the Autobild test, coming last in the 8-tyre examination. According to the test results in Autobild 2021 and 2022, the tyre demonstrated longer braking distances in dry and wet conditions, alongside a higher rolling resistance. It also has stiffer rolling comfort, which could affect user experience.

Verdict

In summary, the Bridgestone Potenza Sport outperforms the Toyo Proxes Sport A in many areas, and is a more reliable choice for summer tyres. It excels especially in braking and handling, even though it may prove slightly noisier and less comfortable due to higher resistance. On the contrary, while the Toyo Proxes Sport A shows strengths in aquaplaning and comfort, its longer braking distances and lower overall performance are noteworthy.

Please note that neither of these tyres have a newer model that replaced them, hence users should expect performance characteristics to stay on par with the test results provided.
