Let's examine two summer tyre models, the BFGoodrich Advantage and the Uniroyal RainSport 5. The BFGoodrich Advantage is known for comfort and dry handling, performing well in BFGoodrich manufacturer tests. On the other hand, the Uniroyal RainSport 5 shows strength in aquaplaning according to its Uniroyal tests.

In Autobild's mutual test of 53 tyres, BFGoodrich Advantage ranked 18th, while Uniroyal RainSport 5 placed almost shoulder to shoulder at 19th. Among its impressive attributes, the Advantage was particularly liked for its comfort and dry handling capabilities. The RainSport 5, is recognized for its exceptional aquaplaning performance. In terms of Fuel efficiency, the Advantage also outperformed in ADAC's test, securing the 9th position in a group of 15, whereas the RainSport 5 struggled, positioning at 13th.

Digging deeper into tests conducted in 2024, it was found that the Advantage led the pack when it came to dry handling, impressing with a low noise level while in motion and minimized rolling resistance. However, it showed tendencies to understeer in wet conditions. In contrast, the RainSport 5 proved to be effective on wet roads, but fell short in terms of the overall balance, exposing weaknesses on dry surfaces. Criticisms also included its environmental and sustainability performance, as well as a lower mileage lifespan and higher fuel consumption.

In a 2022 Autobild test, it was confirmed that the BFGoodrich Advantage showed robust handling ability and short braking distance on dry roads, along with a pleasantly low external noise level. However, it did exhibit understeering and longer braking distances in wet conditions. No recent test data were found on the Uniroyal Rainsport 5.

In conclusion, the BFGoodrich Advantage excels in terms of comfort, dry handling, and fuel efficiency but might disappoint in wet conditions. On the other hand, the Uniroyal RainSport 5 is an excellent choice for wet roads, especially against aquaplaning, but it doesn't perform as well on dry surfaces, and concerns for environmental impact and fuel consumption could be notable drawbacks for some users.
