Uniroyal

Uniroyal MOTO tyres - market overview, tests, reviews

The company's history dates back to 1868, when Oscar Englebert opened a rubber goods shop in Liege, Belgium. Gradual experimentation with tyres, mainly for bicycles and horse covers, led to the creation of the Englebert rubber company. In 1898, it began to produce the first tyres for cars, becoming one of the first manufacturers in the Benelux countries and throughout Europe. After that, the company experienced tremendous growth. From the first factory of around 400 employees in 1912 to 1914, when the factory had already quadrupled in size. In 1925, a modern factory with partially automated production was built in Liege. Another factory was opened in 1929 in Aachen, where tyres for bicycles, cars and trucks were produced. In 1958, the company merged with an American partner to become part of Uniroyal. In 1979, the European part of Uniroyal-Englebert was integrated into the Continental Group.
