Next we are going to have a look at some less premium options – or at least that is how we spoke in the last years about Hankook, but I am not sure we can say that anymore as the new the Hankook Ventus Evo pretty much beaten all of the premium options in terms of wet braking and dry handling. It finished fifth in the recent Autobild test, but is very strong in wet where it got best wet braking and wet cornering, but also the best dry handling and also the best rolling resistance, which is a great combo for sporty EVs. It\u2019s also got above-average mileage and overall is a great allrounder.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<\/span>Kumho Ecsta Sport – winner with a nice pricetag<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\nSecond non-premium candidate is the new Kumho Ecsta Sport. Now we only got one test from the new Die Reifentester organization, but it got shared first place along with the Bridgestone Potenza Sport and Continental SportContact 7, which is a great result given that these tyres are on top of our all-time summer tire rankings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\nAnother interesting first-tested tire is the Pirelli Cinturato C3, which was tested by tyrereviews.com. It got first place because of its strong dry performance, mainly excellent dry handling and also impressive wet performance, which makes it a great allrounder. It even beat the ultimate allrounder, the Continental PremiumContact 7, which is a great success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/span>Hankook ION Evo – EV specialist is beating the regular tyres<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\nThis year was kind of specific, because we got a lot of tyres that were tested just once, but beaten all of our best ranking tyres. It happened with the Kumho, with the Pirelli and also with the UltraContact NXT. And now once more, we finally got a regular test of the EV-specific Hankook ION Evo, which is by the way the OEM tire on the facelifted Tesla Model 3 and the Autobild test this year just confirmed why Tesla chose it.Not only it got great rolling resistance, but it won most of the dry and wet disciplines in the test, challenging the Continental PremiumContact 7 greatly. We used to say that low rolling resistance usually makes the manufacturers make compromise, but the Hankook somehow managed to put it all together. It\u2019s a shame we only got one test of the Hankook as we would like to see more comparisons. We hope to see those next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/span>Proven models<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\nOkay, but what if none of the new tyres really impressed you? There\u2019s still plenty of older proven tyres you can choose from – the Continental SportContact 7 is still a very strong choice for an everyday sporty tyre along with the sporty Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. We shouldn\u2019t forget also the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 and couple of more – as always, it\u2019s important to consider your preferences as well as current prices in order to get the right deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
