New Audi Q3 gets eight Continental tyre fitments in 17- to 20-inch sizes

The new Audi Q3 has gained eight Continental tyre fitments across three seasonal ranges and wheel diameters from 17 to 20 inches. According to Continental’s press release, Audi has approved the EcoContact 6 Q summer tyre as original equipment, while recommending the ProContact TX10 all-season tyre and WinterContact TS 870 P winter tyre. The wording matters: the all-season option is limited to the US and Canadian markets, and Continental has not said that it is the Q3’s exclusive tyre supplier.

Eight fitments across three seasonal roles

The range is broader than a single-model OE announcement. It combines an efficiency-focused summer tyre, a year-round option for North America and a dedicated European-style winter tyre. This follows Continental’s recent EcoContact 7 fitment for the Volkswagen ID. Polo, although the Q3 programme covers more seasonal choices.

Different priorities for summer, all-season and winter use

Continental positions the EcoContact 6 Q around low rolling resistance, reduced road noise and braking on wet and dry roads. Those are manufacturer claims; the announcement provides no measured comparison with a predecessor or rival. For the ProContact TX10, Continental cites wet-road braking, low noise and traction in light snow, but does not publish test values in the release.

The WinterContact TS 870 P uses a winter-specific tread, sipes and a compound intended to stay flexible at low temperatures. A related tyre, the WinterContact TS 870 without the “P” suffix, recently won an Auto Express winter tyre test in 205/55 R16. That result should not be transferred directly to the TS 870 P or to the larger Q3 sizes, but it provides context for Continental’s current winter range.

What this means for Audi Q3 drivers

For buyers, the practical benefit is a set of vehicle-approved options rather than evidence that one tyre is best in every condition. The 18-, 19- and 20-inch EcoContact sizes cover summer use, while the winter recommendation adds a 17-inch choice. Drivers considering the ProContact TX10 should note that its Q3 recommendation applies only in the US and Canada. Continental’s announcement gives no pricing or retail launch timetable, so availability still needs to be checked by market and exact Q3 specification.
