The all-electric Nissan N7 will come factory-fitted with the Continental EcoContact 7 in size 235/45 R19 99Y XL FR. This marks another original equipment (OE) fitment for the EcoContact 7. In this 19-inch specification, the tyre achieves top ratings on both EU label categories crucial for EV drivers — energy efficiency and rolling noise.

What makes the EcoContact 7 suited for electric vehicles

The EcoContact 7’s efficiency credentials come from two distinct approaches. The Smart Energy Casing technology uses a revised rubber compound combined with new materials in the carcass, inner liner, and sidewall. By reducing internal friction within the tyre structure itself, rolling resistance drops — translating directly into longer range per charge.

Continental also addresses aerodynamic losses through its aerodimple structure. The sidewall is textured with small dimples inspired by golf ball surfaces. These reduce air turbulence behind the rotating tyre, lowering the vehicle’s overall energy consumption — a factor that becomes measurable at highway speeds.

For cabin comfort, the Silent Pattern tread design features specifically spaced and angled tread blocks to suppress the noise frequencies most audible in urban traffic. In electric vehicles — where there is no engine noise to mask tyre roar — tread noise management matters more than in combustion-engined cars.

Part of a wider EV push at Continental

The Nissan N7 fitment follows a pattern of Continental expanding its EcoContact 7 OE footprint across European EV platforms. The company recently disclosed that a specially adapted version of the EcoContact 7, developed with Renault Group, achieves rolling resistance up to 35% lower than required for the EU label’s top A rating — equivalent to roughly 30 extra kilometres of range on a 500 km battery. A standard EcoContact 7 is also now the exclusive factory fit for the new electric Renault Twingo.

What Nissan N7 buyers can expect

For drivers taking delivery of a Nissan N7, the EcoContact 7 OE fitment means the car arrives with tyres rated at the top of the EU label on both energy efficiency and noise — two categories that directly affect everyday running costs and refinement. Whether the 235/45 R19 size will be available as a retail replacement in the broader EcoContact 7 range has not been specified in the announcement. Continental has not disclosed pricing or a retail sale date for replacement units.
