The Vredestein Quatrac Pro 2 has backed up its editorial test wins with results from two independent testing programmes commissioned by Apollo Tyres. Tests conducted at Applus+ IDIADA in Spain and at the UTAC winter facility in Finland show the ultra-high-performance (UHP) all-season tyre leading its segment in wet braking and snow handling against four named premium competitors.

Snow handling: fastest lap times at UTAC Finland

Winter testing was carried out at the UTAC facility in Finland using a BMW 5 Series fitted with a sensorised vehicle testing system to record speed and lap times. The Quatrac Pro 2 achieved the fastest lap time in the snow handling test against four premium UHP all-season competitors. Independent testers noted “excellent response, stability and controllability under all circumstances.”

Vredestein attributes the snow grip partly to 3D interlocking sipes at the shoulder blocks. Unlike straight-cut conventional sipes, these are zig-zagged in both horizontal and vertical planes to resist tread block deformation under load.

Wet braking: 7% advantage at IDIADA Spain

Applus+ IDIADA conducted dry and wet handling and braking tests on certified asphalt with a defined water depth. The Quatrac Pro 2 led the test group in wet conditions, recording a 7% wet-braking advantage over what Apollo describes as “one of the segment’s longest-established competitors.” Apollo does not name the competitor.

The tyre achieves an EU label rating of A for wet grip across its entire size range — Apollo claims this is unique in the UHP all-season segment. All sizes feature four longitudinal grooves (also described as unique in the category) plus directional lateral grooves for water evacuation.

Daniele Lorenzetti, Chief Technology Officer at Apollo Tyres Ltd, said: “Vredestein has long been recognised for its premium all-season tyres, and these independent tests reinforce that reputation. The Quatrac Pro 2 delivered exceptional grip and traction against other premium competitors, while also improving efficiency and longevity compared with its predecessor.”

Who is it for?

The Quatrac Pro 2 is available now in sizes covering 17- to 24-inch wheel diameters, with section widths of up to 355 mm — a broader range than most UHP all-season competitors offer, extending to fitments for high-powered vehicles and EVs. These independent results follow the tyre’s strong showings in Auto Bild compact car and SUV all-season tests, where it earned joint-second place with an “Exemplary” rating. Drivers who want a single tyre year-round and prioritise wet safety — particularly EV owners sensitive to rolling resistance — are the primary target audience. No pricing information has been provided by Vredestein.
